If you believe you may have ancestors who were in Poland during the Nazi occupation, it&#8217;s worthwhile exploring.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/basia.famula.pl\/en\/\">BaSIA<\/a>: Vital records from the Poznan (Greater Poland) region. Records are indexed and most will have a link to a scan. There is an option for English language. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.passengerlists.de\/\">Bremen Passenger<\/a> Lists. This is a subsite of the De Maus Society (below). Many Polish ancestors traveled through Bremen. Here you may be able to locate records for a family member who traveled through Bremen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.katalogszlachty.com\/?option=com_content&amp;view=frontpage&amp;Itemid=28\">Catalog of Nobility<\/a>: A website providing information on the szlachta, nobility, of Poland. It also provides data on a number of families&#8211;births, deaths. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/collections\/chronicling-america\/\">Chronicling America<\/a>: An archive of digitized American newspapers provided by the US National Archives. There are newspapers in foreign languages published in the US here&#8211;most importantly Ameryka and the Ameryka Echo, published by A.A. Parynski. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.familysearch.org\/en\/search\/collection\/1494476\">Diocese of Toledo, Catholic Parish Records<\/a>: Digitized records of parishes within the diocese of Toledo. Records cover approximately mid-1800s through 1930s, including cemetery records. You will need to identify the parish and area your ancestor resided to locate parish records. These records are not indexed. You will need to scroll through them. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.die-maus-bremen.info\/index.php?id=1&amp;L=1%27A%3D0\">De Maus Society for Family Research, Bremen<\/a>: This site is written in German; however, you can translate it with your browser. The city was captured in 1806 and then annexed by France in 1810, before it regained independence in 1815.&nbsp;In the late nineteenth century, Bremen was drawn by Prussia into the German Empire. This site maybe useful if you have an ancestor from the Poznan region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dpcamps.org\/index.html\">Displaced Persons Camps<\/a>: A effort of the Michigan Family History Network, provides some digitized records and information on persons displaced by wars. Click Countries I-Z to locate information on Poland. Also provides other links to Polish research. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ggarchives.com\/index.html\">Gjenvick-Gj\u00f8nvik Archives<\/a>. A good resource for immigration information: ships, immigrant documentation used, historic immigration law. This site has a number of popup ads, so it may be annoying but the content is worthwhile. It is much easier to use this site on a tablet or laptop, not a mobile. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/geneteka.genealodzy.pl\/index.php\">Geneteka<\/a>: Database of indexed vital records from parishes, organized by province. Written in Polish; however,  you can translate with your browser. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/news.google.com\/newspapers\">Google Newspaper Archive<\/a>: Free newspaper access to a number of newspapers, including the Toledo Blade and the Toledo News Bee. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wolfbane.com\/icd\/index.html\">International Classification of Diseases<\/a>. Death certificates have an ICD code on them, this code indicates cause of death. Death certificates do provide the narrative name, however, you can obtain further information using this look up list. The ICD has been updated through the years, and this list provides the ICD from 1900 through 1990. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.rootsweb.com\/~instjose\/LadewskiPapers\/lucky.htm\">Lucky Ladewski Papers<\/a>: Gertrude &#8220;Lucky&#8221; Ladewski was a South Bend resident who cataloged Polish immigrants and Polish-American residents of South Bend, Indiana. Many obituaries and some genealogical information here if your ancestor was a South Bend resident.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/resources.ohiohistory.org\/incarceration\/\">Ohio Incarceration Records Index Search<\/a>: A searchable index of incarcerations in Ohio prisons based on Bertillon Cards used to record prisoner data. The time span covers the years of 1888 &#8211; 1923.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ohiomemory.org\/\">Ohio Memory<\/a>: Access Ohio historical information. You can perform specific searches for the county or city you are interested in. There is also access to historic Ohio newspapers. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/poznan-project.psnc.pl\/index.php?lang=en\">Poznan Project<\/a>: A database of marriage records through the Poznan region from 1800 &#8211; 1899.  If you want a digital copy of the record, there are instructions on how to email and make a donation to obtain the record.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/szukajwarchiwach.gov.pl\">Szukaj w Archiwach:<\/a> Provides data from the Polish State Archives and a number of institutions in Poland, including universities. The archives include genealogical information from parishes and archdioceses in Poland.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/toledosattic.org\/exhibits\">Toledo&#8217;s Attic<\/a>: General history of Toledo; provides some photos and information on the city and its institutions. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mk270.github.io\/whitakers-words\/\">Whitaker&#8217;s Words:<\/a> Having difficulty figuring out those church records written in Latin? Here&#8217;s a Latin dictionary that may help.
